Equal Access Guide

We welcome all guests with disabilities to attend all events and offer the following services on their behalf.

California Exposition and State Fair prides itself on providing complete and convenient access for all our guests with disabilities. Many rides, shows, attractions, elevators, and parking areas are designed to comfortably accommodate guests in wheelchairs and other disabilities.

Parking spaces and areas for guests with disabilities are available in all parking lots on a first-come, first-served basis. Disabled parking consists of two types: standard accessible and van accessible.

All disabled guest parking is clearly marked with signage and are available in all lots and locations, based upon the location of the Admission Gate for each specific event. Guests should display their ID placard in their vehicles windshield.

Cal Expo & State Fair is accessible by Public Transit. Please contact Regional Transit for a schedule or contact your Para-transit provider. Parking entrances are located at Exposition Blvd & Heritage Lane and at Exposition Blvd. & Challenge Way.

Restrooms, exhibit buildings, admission booths, vendor booth and entertainment venues are accessible to patrons who use wheelchairs. One companion or personal assistant is admitted at the admission gate at no charge with the paid admission of the disabled person.

This courtesy does not extend to admission to concerts that require tickets, midway rides, or private events.

Service dogs and miniature horses are welcome at Cal Expo & State Fair provided they are on a leash or lead at all times. A member of your party must remain with the animal. The animal must be under control at all times.

Emotional support, comfort, and therapy animals are not considered service animals and are not permitted.

Guests with disabilities may bring in wheelchairs and motorized scooters with three or more wheels that comply with the ADA wheelchair footprint to be used as a mobility device.

During the annual California State Fair, wheelchairs are available for rent. The rentals are on a first-come, first-served basis and are available inside each of the admission gates.

Wheelchairs can be reserved in advance online at vistamobility.net  or by phone at 1-877-588-4782.

The maximum speed for any powered mobility device is equal to walking pedestrians.

Anyone operating their mobility device, regardless of type, in a manner deemed unsafe will be warned to use their mobility device appropriately.

Operators of mobility devices must yield to pedestrians.

Mobility devices cannot be used to push or tow other devices.

All mobility devices will be hand-screened by Security.

If an individual chooses not to comply with the rules, he or she will be asked to leave.

Accessible seats at the Golden One Stage during the California State Fair can be reserved through the Cal Expo Box Office at (916) 263-1562.

For shows not requiring a reserved seat ticket, concert staff is available to assist guests.

During the State Fair concerts at the Golden One Stage, a Sign Language Interpreter is provided for the benefit of our hearing-impaired guests.

During the annual State Fair, a TDD (telecommunication device for the deaf) phone line is available in Guest Services.

The Guest Services office is located inside the Main Gate next to the Police Department.

For concerts that are conducted outside of the annual State Fair please contact the Event Promoter directly.

Butler Amusements has created an accessibility brochure to assist carnival patrons in choosing the rides and attractions which best suit them. The brochure is available at Butler Amusements customer service kiosk located on the main carnival midway during the California State Fair.

Access criteria is based upon each guest’s ability to utilize all safety restraints and devices as designed, maintain proper riding posture throughout the course of the ride and understand and execute any emergency protocol unique to the particular characteristic of each ride.
